About Mnojit Adhikary
Rejuvenating The Lost Rural Art and Culture Of Bengal
Born in the 50s in the south-west suburb of Kolkata, Manojit has thirst for knowledge of different human activities since childhood. The moment he decided to make documentary films, he joined different institutes and attended a number of workshops to develop his technical skill. He has worked as an assistant in a number of documentary films to gather first-hand experience.
Manojit is working as an assistant secretary at Micro Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles Department of West Bengal Govt. for livelihood. He started his own venture, banking on his self-confidence and a small fund, which he could accumulate over the years from his own earnings. He is an empanelled director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal.
His documentary films highlight the life of the downtrodden mass along with the people involved in traditional culture.
Manojit’s interest also extends to areas like folk-art, dance, mime, handicrafts, painting and sculpture, music, civil defence communication, social service, bratachari, scouting, st. John ambulance, unani medicine and the like. This has enabled him to see the real life through the lens of his camera.

8) Non-Timber Forest Products Based Livelihood Generation (25 min., 2005):- This film produced by Indian Institute of Forest Management, Govt. of India, Bhopal.
9) Renunciation – a folkway (29 min., 2006):- Reflects the Gajan rituals of West Bengal. This film won Juries Award from the 5th Asia Pacific Documentary Film Festival, 2008, Singapore and 7th A.A.I. International Film Festival, 2009, Albenia.
10) Bhumikanya (The daughter of the soil, 30 min., and 2008):- Based on Tusu Festifal of different parts of West Bengal.
11) Go-Bandana (The cattle worship festival, 25 min., 2009):- Based on the Tribal Folk Festival of Saharay and Badna, West Bengal.
12) Jhanpan (Festival of the Serpent Goddess, 23 min., 2009):- Reflects the worship of the Serpent Goddess Manasa and play with snakes by the snake-charmers.
13) Purulia’s Salabat (20 min., 2010):- A Jhumur folk singer. This film produced by Lokosanskriti-O-Adibasi Sanskriti Kendra, Information & Cultural Affairs Deptt., Govt. of West Bengal.
14) Gajan(1 hour 55 min., 2010):- Reflects the different types of Gajan rituals of different deities in different places of West Bengal.
15) Vir Sannyasi Vivekananda (55 min., 2013):- A dance drama on Swami Vivekananda.
16) Bratachari Nrityali (2hour 20 min., 2013):- Bratachari dance.

Dr. Manojit Adhikari
Grabbed a lot of attention at
Kolkata International Film Festival and in numerous cultural events
Dr. Manojit grabbed the senior fellowship award from the ministry of cultural affairs of government of India. Apart from this, his documentry film “Krishra Sadhan” – a folk documentry was awarded the jury award in Singapore and Albenia.
His pictures are regularly showcased in Kolkata International Film Festival. He has grabbed a lot of attention and appritiation worldwide. He was awarded “Sarok Samman” from education minister Dr. Partha Chattopadhay & Tapasi Basu at Sahitya Utsav organized by West Bengal Academy of data and culture as well as in the inaugation festival of little magazine mela 2018 respectively.
